When Dave Mustaine formed Megadeth, he wanted to show the world that he could create music that could top the charts. And he’s certainly delivered with an incredibly intense discography that consists of sixteen studio albums, six live albums, seven compilation albums, one EP, forty-nine singles, ten video albums, and forty-four music videos.

Studio Albums

The band’s debut album, Killing Is My Business… and Business Is Good!, was released on June 12, 1985. The album found success on the indie scene and even made it to the Billboard 200, as well as finding traction in Australia, Japan, Germany, and the UK.

This led to the band finding Major-label attention and led to their second album, Peace Sells but Who’s Buying? which was released on September 19, 1986. This album was successful in the US and Japan and found its way to both territories music charts. And it was certified as a platinum album by the RIAA and MC and a Silver album by BPI.

Megadeth repeated this certification feat with their third album, So Far, So Good…So What!, which was released on January 19, 1988. In addition to the certifications, it found it’s way to the top 50 ranks on multiple music charts across the globe, including a #5 peak in Finland.

From these origins, the band has produced more work that has grown to become venerated releases. Which is why their latest album, The Sick, the Dying…and the Dead!, released on September 2, 2022, made it to the top 10 in multiple territories, including #3 in the US, and #1 in Finland.
